Major features of the project include:

• Most energy efficient HVAC system design.
• Prepare RFP documents for an Energy Service Contract by creating a base model for energy usage comparison.
• Review the proposals, select and recommend one with the most savings and least construction cost.

J and P provided consulting services to prepare an Energy Service Contract (ESCO) for this 32,000 sq. ft. state-of-the art brand new continuing education facility. The estimated total cost of this project was exceeding the budget by over $2.00 million putting the entire project in jeopardy. J and P suggested an energy efficient and environment friendly geothermal HVAC system and lighting design to generate enough savings in energy cost over a period of ten-year period to finance the HVAC construction cost.

J and P established all the energy savings measures including heat recovery and variable frequency drives and helped the college in negotiating and selecting the best proposal, which had the lowest construction cost and maximum energy savings. A base model was developed and simulated energy consumption was calculated and compared for a conventional HVAC system against a geothermal HVAC system with all the energy efficiency enhancements,

Construction was completed in winter of 1999.
